Brow Lamination Aftercare Advice

Our advice to help get longer lasting results from your treatment

  • Do not apply make-up or receive any other eye treatment for at least 24 hours after your treatment,
  • Avoid swimming/saunas/steam rooms for 24 hours,
  • Keep brows dry for 24 hours - avoid hot showers or baths or washing your face for 24 hours.
  • Avoid the temptation to over touch the brow area after treatment.
  • Avoid exposure to sun or sunbeds after the treatment for 48 hours
  • No self tanning products should be used on the face for 48 hours after treatment.

Brow Lamination is a low maintenance treatment but does require some maintenance for best results, as follows:

  • Use a brow conditioner daily (after 24 hours)-i.e Castor oil (Please ask if you need to buy castor oil). Apply oil morning and night, using a mascara wand to brush the eyebrows in the direction that they are set in.
  • Return to your normal daily skincare routine after 48 hours.
  • Allow brows to dry naturally after showers etc. Use a mascara wand to brush hairs in the direction they have been set.
  • Use oil free make-up and make-up remover to avoid excess rubbing of the area.

waxing Aftercare Advice

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure your skin is cared for properly over the next few days.

Please  note: some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and  perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 - 48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 - 48 hours.
This means:

  • No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only).
  • No saunas, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments.
  • No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).
  • No sport, gym work or other exercise, avoid perspiring.
  • Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.
  • Wear clean, loose fitting clothes.
  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools.
  • Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.
  • Do not exfoliate area.

3-10 days after your waxing service, you need to ensure you prevent ingrown hairs. The skin will close over the follicles and new hair may get trapped causing ingrown hairs.

Gently exfoliate 2-3 times a week with a body scrub. Start this routine 2-3 days after the waxing treatment. It is essential that you perform this routine between days 3-10 after your wax service. Remember to not over exfoliate as this can cause damage to the skin.

Follow your exfoliation with an enriching and nourishing moisturiser.  This process will prevent ingrown hairs and ensure that your next wax  is easier and a little less painful.

Gel Nail Varnish Aftercare Advice

To help your Gel Nail Paint last longer here are a few tips.

  • Avoid hand creams containing Lanolin as these may cause the product to lift.
  • Wear rubber gloves when using cleaning products and washing up. You should try to do this anyway even if your do not have anything on your nails, as chemicals are very harsh to the skin and soaking nails in water often is damaging to them
  • Wear gloves when decorating or gardening.
  • Do not pick, cut, file or bite your nails, this will not only damage the product but could harm your natural nails.
  • Always have the product removed professionally to avoid any natural nail damage. We can not stress enough peeling or picking Gel from your nails will remove a couple of layers of your own natural nail, causing nails to become weaker and damaged.
  • Avoid intense heat for 24 hours after application, so please avoid a sauna or sunbed as it may cause heat spikes on your gel nails and may cause the colour to fade.
  • Always wash your hands, nails and cuticles after applying sun cream or self tanning lotion. Some makes of suncream contain ingredients which if are left on the nail will impair the colour of your gel paint and self tanning products can discolour the gel paint.

Facial Treatments Aftercare Advice

To ensure you get the most out of your facial treatment, we advise you do the following:

  • Avoid makeup on the skin after the treatment, ideally for the rest of the day but at least for two hours after
  • Avoid the use of sunbeds as this could lead to skin damage including burns, pigmentation or sensitivity
  • It is strongly recommended that the appropriate Monu homecare should be used to ensure maximum results within the skin
  • Avoid facial waxing, electrolysis and excessive UV exposure for at 7 days.
  • Protect your face with SPF sunscreen daily even if it is not a sunny day.
  • Do not exfoliate for at least 4 days after a facial.

If you have any concerns after your facial treatment please contact us.

Ear and Nose Piercing aftercare advice

Ear Piercing

Perfect care for happy and healthy ears

You will enjoy your new ear piercings the most if you treat them well and take good care of them after piercing. Statistics show that by far the greatest percentage of post-piercing complications and infections are caused through negligent after care procedures. This care advice will help you to promote a trouble-free healing process and to avoid complications.

  • Wash hands thoroughly before touching your studs or ears.
  • Cleanse the front and back of each ear with Studex After Piercing  Lotion or Studex Piercing Care Gel at least twice a day, starting 24 hours after the ear was pierced, without removing the studs. Move each stud back and forth in the hole while applying the aftercare product.
  • In between cleansing, try to keep your ears dry.

What to avoid?

  • Do not remove the studs or handle your ears and/or studs unnecessarily.
  • Do not push the earring back along the post towards the ear. It is  important that the back is always positioned in the notch of the earring  post. Therefore make sure to check its correct position with every  aftercare procedure in order to allow for adequate air circulation, thus  accelerating the healing process. An earring that sits too tightly can  cause an infection.

What can you do to promote the healing process?

  • Leave the studs in your earlobes for at least 6 weeks continuously (12 weeks for cartilage piercings).
  • After 6 weeks (earlobes) or 12 weeks (cartilage), you can remove the studs and wear other post-type earrings continuously.
  • Use only post-type earrings continuously for 5 months (earlobe)  after piercing (12 months for cartilage), no hook earrings. The earring post should be made of surgical stainless steel or other hypoallergenic material. All earrings of the Studex Sensitive line and the Studex Select line are optimally suited. You will also find other high-quality earrings, such as carat gold earrings, at your trusted jewellery store.
  • Keep hairspray, shampoo, soap and other preparations away from your  ear piercings. After shampooing, the ear should be rinsed with clean water and then prepared with a Studex Ear Care product as described above.
  • Minor swelling and/or redness may occur immediately—this is normal.  This should settle within 48 hours provided that you follow these care  instructions. If undue pain, swelling or redness occurs at any time, seek medical advice immediately.

Special considerations for the cartilage area

Due to the nature of the ear cartilage, extra care should be taken during the healing period. Piercings in the cartilage area take longer to heal than earlobe piercings (up to 3 months).

  • For cartilage, too, minor swelling and/or redness may occur  immediately—this is normal. This should settle within 48 hours provided  that you follow these care instructions. If undue pain, swelling or redness occurs at any time, seek medical advice immediately.
  • Important: Do not treat complications associated  with ear cartilage piercings lightly! Failure to properly follow after care procedures or to seek medical advice, should a problem occur, may result in permanent scarring of the ear cartilage.  Don’t hesitate in such circumstances to seek care of a medical practitioner in a timely manner.

Nose Piercings

As part of the piercing process, your technician will take you through the aftercare steps after the piercing. We know that with the anticipation  and excitement of getting your new piercing, you may not be paying full  attention, so your Studex technician will provide you with a copy of the daily steps to follow and "Dos and Donts."

Studex After Piercing Lotion is a must for use straight after your new piercing and throughout the healing period. This is a pH balanced solution, which acts as a flushing agent; as well as soothing and promoting healing.

Always handle your new piercing with clean  hands and remember to carefully rotate at least three times a day, cleaning  carefully.

  1. You need to leave your studex nose piercing in for a minimum of 8 weeks.
  2. Do not remove your jewellery too soon.  Removing the jewellery too soon could affect the healthy healing of  your piercing and you may struggle to reposition after removing. The  recommended guidelines by Studex are based on over 4 decades of experience.
  3. Apply the Piercing Lotion to the nose up to 3 times per day, on the outside only.
  4. Turn the nose stud 180 degrees one way and then 180 degrees the other way ie. 1/2 turns slowly 2-3 times per day.
  5. Ensure cosmetics, make-up and other preparations are kept away from the nose.
  6. After showering, or swimming bathe the nose immediately.
  7. The nose stud is not to be removed or handled unnecessarily
  8. The design and positioning of the Medisept nose piercing studs ensure that the slightly flared post keeps the jewellery in place for the healing period.
  9. When you go to sleep apply a small plaster to the area to avoid being caught in your sleep.

Failure to properly follow after care procedures or to seek medical advice, should a problem occur, may result in permanent scarring . Don’t hesitate in such circumstances to seek care of a medical practitioner in  a timely manner.

  • Do not get your eyelashes wet for the first 24 hours.
  • Do not use harsh products on your eyes or lashes.
  • Use of a sauna/steam is possible after 24 hours however may weaken the effect of the lift.

  • Avoid water-proof mascara.
  • Swimming should be avoided for the first 24 hours after the treatment.
